Me and my girl arrived at my home, and as she got out of the taxi, the driver said something sarcastic about me bringing her home, and gave me a snide smirk in the mirror as he gave me my change. I didn’t like what he said or the look on his face, and I told him to apologize.
He didn’t, so I sat in the car stubbornly insisting on not getting out till he apologized. Well, this went on for about 90 seconds. It was silly, but harmless… a bit of posturing that amounted to nothing really.
Finally the driver decided to break the standoff. He hopped out of the taxi and came round the front of the cab to get me out of the car.
Some stories can get too complicated, so I thought I’d tell the story in more bite-sized pieces.
On the night that I was out with Carey & Co, who are all Australians, I heard from another guy named Dennis who was in town from America. He was here for three weeks, and was – coincidentally – staying at the same hotel as the Aussies.
Dennis actually joined us at and met all the Aussies and all their girls. It was only about 20 minutes after Dennis arrived that the Aussies retired back to the hotel with the girls.
Dennis and I finished our beer and hopped a taxi to Nana Plaza. We decided to go to .
While we were there I bought a drink for a girl who struck me as attractive and sexy. Her name was Nan. Now, I’d been drinking beer all night, so it’s possible that my judgment was impaired but Nan looked pretty hot to me.
Eventually I paid her bar fine. The three of us – me, Dennis and Nan – left the bar and went out to Soi 4 to get a taxi. Dennis’ hotel was on the way home, so we were planning on going together. Just as we were about to grab the cab, my phone rang.
I decided to write this blog after reading a recent comment:

On the weekend, former Prime Minister Thaksin, who was ousted from office by a military coup in September 2006 and is currently living in London and seeking asylum, spoke by video link to supporters. According to news reports “tens of thousands” of Thaksin supporters (the UDD) gathered at a stadium here in Bangkok to listen to him speak.
Here is an excerpt from a Bangkok Post article talking about the effect of this broadcast.
